Scottish born David Newton has been voted top jazz pianist for many years running in the British Jazz Awards and has numerous other accolades to his name. Since his early days working with singer Carole Kidd and touring the world with BBC Radio 3’s Stacey Kent, he has concentrated on lecturing as well as performing with a plethora of musicians from the upper echelons of jazz society and he is - as you’d imagine much in demand. So against that backdrop, we’re delighted yo announce that for our first concert since ‘lockdown’, we have secured the services of one of our very favourite musicians plus top drummer Charlie Stratford and the ubiquitous jazz bassist - Paul Jefferies. The trio will present two sets of music celebrating summer and the work of some of the most inspirational composers from the worlds of jazz and popular music.
This concert will take place outside in the gardens of Bledlow Village Hall. Please note that the show will start at 4pm and finish at 6pm. Please feel free to bring your own picnic and drinks as well as chairs blankets and anything else that will make you comfortable for this summer jazz garden event.
We will be observing Covid-19 government guidelines.
Fleur Stevenson has much to be pleased about: A 4-star rated new album released in 2019, a critically acclaimed CD launch at the prestigious Dean Street, London Pizza Express Jazz club and a string of concerts booked up and down the country. Fleur has a wonderfully delicate voice that swells and drops to a whisper in empathy with the dynamics of her band (who are bye the way, the fantastic pianist Pete Billington, bassist Paul Jefferies & drummer Simon Price). We believe she’s one of the finest interpreters of lyrics in the business here today. We’ve managed to secure a date to bring Fleur to Bledlow Jazz with at least two of her regular band - so we highly recommend you get your booking secure early.
If we can make it work - this concert will take place indoors with a limited audience to comply with government Covid-19 guidelines. However, if the weather is good, we will have another outdoor event with a larger audience - please watch this space and the Ticket Source link on Book Now for more updates.
